AUTONOMOUS MOBILE ROBOTS(AMR)

AMRs Built for Ground-to-Ground, High-Bay & Heavy-Load Automation

Manual pallet handling eats labour hours, slows throughput and carries injury risk. Southward’s AMR fleet – pallet mover, reach truck and counterbalance forklift – automates the moves that matter, with Laser SLAM navigation, ISO 3691-4 certified safety and a fleet management system that keeps your site’s traffic flowing.

Automation that fits the warehouse you already run

Southward AMRs automate the repetitive pallet moves that consume your labour hours – end of palletising to strapping and labelling, pallets-in to storage, storage to production, production to warehouse or cool stores, warehouse to load-outs. Each vehicle navigates without fixed guides, so there’s no floor magnet, wire or reflector infrastructure to install.

Start with a single zone and one AMR type, then extend across the site. Our fleet management system, WCS/WES orchestration and WMS integration keep every mission prioritised, tracked and auditable as the fleet grows.

Our AMR products

AI-powered autonomous products designed to streamline warehouse logistics with safe, efficient, and driverless material movement.

Pallet Mover AMR — Ground-to-Ground Pallet Transport

Designed for repetitive and often long distance point-to-point transport of closed pallets and able to negotiate challenging L-shaped and S-curve aisles.

Pallet Mover AMR
Dual-mode flexibility

Operates as an autonomous AMR, a manually driven forklift, or as part of a coordinated robot cluster, switchable at the touch of a button for both routine and ad-hoc material movements.

Advanced autonomous navigation

Laser SLAM navigation, self-adaptive pallet detection and intelligent path planning enable reliable operation without fixed guides, even in changing warehouse environments.

Safe operation in complex aisles

LiDAR-based, multi-sensor 360° perception provides obstacle detection and avoidance, with configurable perception, deceleration and stop zones. Certified to ISO 3691-4.

Heavy-duty pallet transport

Available in 2,000 kg and 3,000 kg capacity variants.

Built for continuous workflows

Rapid two-hour automatic charging provides up to six hours of runtime, while adjustable forks, modular accessories and our Robot Dispatch System support different pallet sizes and multi-AMR fleet management.

Reach Truck AMR — High-Bay Storage & Retrieval

Designed to achieve pallet and material transfers to and from high-bay storage with real-time tracking and better decision-making.

Reach Truck AMR
Compact reach-truck AMR

Combines a space-efficient design with a 450 mm reach mechanism, enabling flexible pallet handling in warehouses with limited operating space.

High-bay storage capability

Automated pallet transport, rack loading and retrieval with lifting capacities up to 2,000 kg and storage heights from approximately 1.6 m to 9.0 m, depending on configuration

Narrow-aisle operation

The forward-reaching design enables operation in aisles as narrow as 1.8–2.2 m, helping increase storage density and make better use of available floor space.

Intelligent navigation and pallet handling

Laser SLAM navigation, machine-learning pallet recognition and adaptive perception support autonomous route planning, storage-location identification and accurate pallet placement.

Safe, connected and continuous

LiDAR-based 360° obstacle detection, configurable safety zones, WMS integration and fleet scheduling support reliable automated operation, with automatic charging for extended uptime. Certified to ISO 3691-4.

Counterbalance Forklift AMR — Heavier Loads, Medium-Height Lifts

Automates the transfer and handling of palletised goods between storage locations, supporting consistent material movement with minimal manual intervention.

Counterbalance Forklift AMR
High-capacity pallet handling

Handles loads of up to 2,000 kg and lifts pallets to heights of approximately 4,500 mm, suiting stacking and medium-height storage applications.

Flexible pallet compatibility

Supports both two-way and four-way entry pallets, providing greater flexibility across different pallet types, storage layouts and warehouse workflows.

Compact manoeuvrability

A turning radius of approximately 1,800 mm enables effective operation in space-constrained areas, while fast travel and good gradeability support efficient movement.

Versatile warehouse applications

Suitable for pallet transfer, stacking, equipment docking, horizontal handling and human–machine interaction zones, connecting automated storage and production processes.

Frequently Asked Questions?

An AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) follows a defined path using laser or vision-based navigation, while an AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) can dynamically re-route around obstacles without a predefined path. Southward’s fleet uses Laser SLAM navigation, and certified for ISO 3691-4 for autonomous safety, giving you AGV reliability with AMR-style flexibility-no fixed floor infrastructure required.

Our reach truck AMR operates in aisles as narrow as 1.8–2.2 m, depending on pallet size and rack configuration. We’ll confirm exact clearances during a site assessment.

Yes. Most sites start with a single zone and one vehicle type, then extend coverage and add vehicles as the business case proves out – our fleet management system is built to scale with you.

Yes. Our WCS/WES layer integrates with your WMS, OMS and ERP to validate tasks, enforce order priorities and record every movement for audit and SLA compliance.
